The Pangasianodon is a species of catfish with physical characteristics similar to that of a shark. It is native to fresh/brackish water. They are native to every realm, inhabiting the waters of all. Pangasianodon are heavily cultivated for their meat, which is known as swai. They are a common source of meat in isolated rural Aesoteric villages, and may even supply secluded Bentharian cultures with sustenance.
Adults reach up to 130 cm (4.3 ft) in length and can weigh up to a maximum of 44 kg (97 lb). They have a shiny, iridescent color that gives these fish their name. However, large adults are uniformly grey. The fins are dark grey or black. Albino Pangasianodon are relatively common, and their meat is described as “marginally more delectable than their mediocre cousins”. As such, albino Pangasianodon are consumed as delicacies around Aesoteric territory.
Pangasianodon are omnivorous, dining upon plant matter and any living or dead biological tissue smaller than them.
