The Marder III is a slapdash tank-destroyer first created by the Aesoteric during the Schism. They are the oldest known tank-destroyers, and as such are not nearly as sophisticated as the newer ones that followed it. The Marder III is quite simply a big gun bolted to the chassis of any defunct vehicle both available and capable of holding the weapon’s weight. They were used extensively to counter Gorramorrathenthax’s armored vehicles before they were largely phased out as a result of the production of more sophisticated designs. They, along with the Jagdpanzer 38, are seen as the pioneers of tank-destroyer technology.
